For those dealing with the loss of a loved one, every day can be a challenge. The healing process is rarely easy, but the weight of the grief can be lifted from time to time. One such time for many is Hospice Friends’ annual Tree of Love Ceremony. This past year over 200 people attended the ceremony in Ellensburg this December, while almost 70 people attended the event later that week in Cle Elum.
The opportunity to remember and honor loved ones brings comfort to many. The event takes place outside the Ellensburg Public Library. Participants feel a true sense of community at the event. One comment about the event stated, “As I looked around me, I realized that I was surrounded by people from all walks of life. To see all of us come together as a community; united by a common desire to remember and honor those close to our hearts was amazing. It honestly brought tears to my eyes.”This was an emotion shared my many that attend the event. The outside “luminary” ceremony was followed by a reception with food, drinks, and music inside the Hal Holmes Community Center.
Community members can donate to receive a tree ornament to honor their loved ones and a luminary is also provided. Hospice Friends operates strictly by donations to help those who are experiencing difficulties during their final days as well as provides equipment like wheel chairs and walkers to those who are in need. Please join us this year at our Annual Tree of Love Celebration.
